National Merit Scholarship Students at South High 2022
Twelve students from South High School in Downers Grove have received recognition in the 2022 National Merit Scholarship Program (NMSP). The program recognizes high school seniors who have excelled in academics and have the potential to succeed in rigorous college studies.
South High National Merit Semifinalists include:

- Brendan Gibbons
- Dean Golminas
- Alex Johnson
- Timothy Neumann
- Shiven Patel
- Ashley Reynolds
- Olivia Roti
- Emilia Swierzb
- Luca Veriotti
In addition, Renee Kowalski and Clarissa Sigale have been named National Merit Commended students.
“Congratulations to our students for earning national recognition,” South High Principal Ed Schwartz said. “We’re proud to share this news with our community.”
Students entered the National Merit Scholarship Program, a nationwide competition for recognition and awards conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation, by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) offered in October 2020 and January 2021. National Merit Semifinalist students will join approximately 16,000 seniors from across the country, representing the top one percent, and will compete for scholarships.
