Two Receive "Superior Writing" National Recognition

South HIgh juniors Vanessa Copeland and Lydia Walsh-Rock received "Certificates for Superior Writing" in a national competition

Two South High students received "Certificates for Superior Writing" in the National Council of Teachers of English contest. Juniors Vanessa Copeland and Lydia Walsh-Rock both received the certificates in the national competition. 

This year, 533 juniors were nominated. Of that number, 264 received Certificates for Superior Writing and 269 received Certificates of Nomination. Each student submitted two pieces of writing, which were read by national judges. Papers were judged on content, purpose, audience, tone, word choice, organization, development, and style. 

English teachers Nicole Proimos and Courtney Linnemeyer nominated Copeland and Walsh-Rock.
