Principal Schwartz's Comments

The following are comments that Principal Schwartz spoke to the student body on Wednesday, November 9, 2016:

As you all head off for a four day weekend, I wanted to take a moment to speak to you in the aftermath of the just-completed election. We spend a lot of time at South High preaching the Mustang Way.  I truly believe that if you approach things respectfully and responsibly, and you engage appropriately in any moment, everyone experiences great things.  Throughout this presidential campaign, there were behaviors exhibited, and opinions expressed, that were not consistent with what we practice here…nor will they ever be tolerated here.

We share this school together – South High belongs to you as much as it does to me…but it doesn’t belong to any one of us more than any other.  I expect that we demonstrate care and compassion for each other at all times – regardless of any factors that might make us different.   I want you to know that no matter what issues our larger society is dealing with, the rest of the staff and I will be here to support and encourage you and to make sure that your South High experience is everything that it can be.  I ask that we all hold each other to this standard, and if that standard is not met, please let an adult in the building know immediately.

Make sure to spend quality time with family and friends during this long weekend.  I look forward to seeing everyone back on Monday – rested and ready to make it a great day to be a Mustang!
