From Principal Ed Schwartz - Welcome Back!

From Principal Ed Schwartz - Welcome Back!

DGS Principal Ed Schwartz

We have officially reached the final weekend of the summer break.  While the time has certainly gone by quickly, we have missed our students and are anxious for the halls to be full again.

The 2015-2016 school year will be unlike any other we have experienced in District 99.  For the first time ever, each and every student will have a personal computing device of their own to assist in their learning.  Our families and students have relied on receiving quality instruction from our gifted faculty.  We believe that the devices will provide yet another tool to use in the teaching and learning process.  We are excited about the possibilities – both those we know of and those we have yet to discover.

New South Teachers

We are also delighted to welcome the new faculty members who will be joining the South High family beginning with the 2015-2016 school year:

Alyssa Gunderson - Special Services Department Chairperson
Stephanie Henrikson - Physical Education
Brett Wolf - Special Services
Robyn Bican - Fine Arts
Stephen Buhr - School Social Worker
Hayley Stankiewicz - Special Services
Jose Gonzalez - World Languages
Kate Rogers - Library
Christine Landschoot - Science
Emily McGinnis - Occupational Therapist
Sydney Darnell - Physical Therapist
Lindsay Kozlowski - Science

In addition to these new staff members, Kim Pakowski has taken over the position of Library Department Chairperson and Trish Gronlund has agreed to teach German once again.  Adding these dedicated professionals further strengthens an already great staff.

The class of 2019 officially begins their high school experience at the Mustang Mad Dash on Saturday, August 22, 2015.  Their first day of school is on Wednesday, August 26th, beginning at 11 a.m.

The school year gets off to a fast start with a home football game on Friday the 28th.  Open House for our parents is scheduled for Thursday, September 10th.  Students should watch the announcements for opportunities to get involved as homecoming activities arrive early this year.  Homecoming will be celebrated the week of September 21-26, 2015.

It promises to be another great year to be a Mustang!
