The Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) at Downers Grove South will host America’s ToothFairy Smile Drive on Thursday, February 23rd, and Friday, February 24th, in the DGS cafeteria during lunch periods. The FCCLA will be collecting donations of new toothbrushes, floss, mouthwash, toothpaste, and kids’ books, which will then be delivered to Indian Boundary YMCA in Downers Grove.

Local community members are invited to visit Downers Grove South High School located at 1436 Norfolk Street in Downers Grove on February 23rd and 24th during school hours to drop off donated oral care products. A donations box will be made available at the front desk. Those who are donating to the Smile Drive are also encouraged to share their experience by snapping a photo and using the hashtag #SmileDrive on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram.

Designed to raise awareness of the importance of oral health and collect oral care products for at-risk children, the America’s ToothFairy Smile Drive is being held nationwide this February during National Children’s Dental Health Month.

“We are so grateful that caring individuals and volunteer groups across the country are helping ensure children receive the oral care products they need through the America’s ToothFairy Smile Drive,” said Fern Ingber, America’s ToothFairy President and CEO. “The participation of the Downers Grove South FCCLA will help promote healthy smiles for local children while providing youth the tools they need to prevent the pain and embarrassment associated with tooth decay.”
