District 99 Names Karen Taylor an Associate Principal of Downers Grove South High School

Karen Taylor will serve as an associate principal for staff and students at Downers Grove South High School starting with the 2016-17 school year. The Board of Education approved her appointment on February 22, 2016.

Karen Taylor will serve as an associate principal for staff and students at Downers Grove South High School starting with the 2016-17 school year. The Board of Education approved her appointment on February 22, 2016.

Taylor is currently serving in her ninth year as a dean of students at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, Illinois. There she is responsible for the behavioral program as well as interventions for more than 700 students. In addition, she contributes to the evaluation of teachers. Previously, Taylor was a department chair for the special services departments at both Maine South High School and Leyden High School. She was also a special services teacher at Leyden; her first teaching assignment was in McAllen, Texas as part of the Teach For America program.

Taylor holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Women’s Studies from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Northeastern Illinois University.  She is currently working on her Doctor of Education degree at Concordia University.
