ACTIVITIES:

Are you looking for a fun night out with friends?  Come to BD’s Mongolian on Tuesday, March 14th between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.  We will have guest grillers that evening including Mrs. Martinez, Mr. Baugh, Mr. Topor as well as many others.  Come join the fun, have a great meal and help us raise money for Special Olympics.

Calling all freshmen! Come attend the freshmen class board meeting tomorrow morning, at 7:30am in room D178. We have a lot to discuss like fundraising ideas, Mustang trot, and the daddy-daughter dance. New members are always welcome.

Are you interested in a career in health care but are not sure your options besides doctor or nurse? On March 24th, a representative from College of DuPage will present information every period except 5th in the library on 40 different healthcare careers ranging from dental hygienist, paramedic, surgical assistant, eye care assistant, and many more. Interested Juniors and Seniors should register in Naviance while Sophomores should register by visiting the College/Career Center Room A109.

Joing us during lunch to tell us “your story” about bullying…we want to hear from you and your experinces. Help us take a stand against  bullying! Remember…”Be kind because anyone you meet can be fighting for their life.”

The Downers Grove American Legion Post #80 is seeking participants for their American Legion Auxiliary Illinois Girls State Leadership program. The camp will be held at Eastern Illinois University from June 18- 26. The program offers hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. Camp registration fees for participants are paid by the sponsoring American Legion post. Registration is open to those students who will be entering their senior year in August 2017. If you are interested, please stop by the Social Studies office (D272) to pick up an application.

It’s that time of year again! Time to audition for the final production of the Downers Grove South Theatre Season, The Little Mermaid, Jr. Be a part of a cast who want to join Ariel and friends “Under the Sea,” as she tries to find her true love and save her soul from the sea witch Ursula. Auditions are Tuesday, March 14th ONLY at 3:30 in the Little Theatre. Please stop by the drama board in the music wing to pick up an informational packet, an audition sheet, and sign-up for an audition spot. Any questions, please email Mrs. Proimos or head to B325.

Cultures in Alliance (CIA) will hold our annual Talent Show on Friday March 17th in the Cafetorium at 7pm. “The World’s Got Talent” will be a celebration featuring DGS students and staff showcasing their unique abilities. Tickets will be $5 for admission, with proceeds donated to the Special Olympics. CIA will also hold our annual raffle. Prizes include a 50/50 cash prize, custom painted Adirondack chairs, and other gifts. Raffle tickets will be $1 each. Please stop by A110 and see Mr. Vetri to purchase raffle tickets.

ATHLETICS

"Any Freshmen boys still interested in trying out for Boys Volleyball this Spring, please register on 8to18 and stop by after school in the large gym to see Coach Fardy and Coach Steger. You can also email Coach Steuer with any questions".

SPEECH:

This past weekend the speech team competed at the national speech and debate qualifier.  Students competed for a staggering 15 hours for the right to compete at the national tournament in Birmingham, Alabama this summer.  The mustangs not only took home the individual events and overall events tournament championship, but also qualified 14 individuals for the national tournament.  Students competing this summer are:
