ACTIVITIES:
DECA, the business and marketing club, will have our next meeting on Thursday, March 2, at 7:30 am in room B327. This is for students attending the State Competition. Shirts will be handed out at this meeting. See you Thursday morning at 7:30 am in B327.
Juniors: The Peer Tutors are ready to help you with your ADVOCACY PROJECT! Stop in during 4, 5, or 6 to meet with a tutor who has been trained in ways to make your argument more persuasive. We can help you at any stage of the process, from research to editing. Come to A322 with any questions.
Attention Seniors: The DGS Support Staff Association will be awarding a $500 scholarship to one DGS senior who will be pursuing a degree in the field of Education or Business. The application is available on the Naviance scholarship listing. Check your email for detailed information.
This week is national RESPECT week. It si also our annual anti-bullying week at DGS hosted by Join the Movement (our very own anti-bullying club). We hope you can get involved every day over the next two weeks during lunches in order to take a stand against bullying at DGS! Our theme is “Respect is my superhero”.
Some facts about bullying:
· Did you know that over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year?
· 71% of students reports incidents of Bullying as a problem at their school
The Downers Grove American Legion Post #80 is seeking participants for their American Legion Auxiliary Illinois Girls State Leadership program. The camp will be held at Eastern Illinois University from June 18- 26. The program offers hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. Camp registration fees for participants are paid by the sponsoring American Legion post. Registration is open to those students who will be entering their senior year in August 2017. If you are interested, please stop by the Social Studies office (D272) to pick up an application.
It’s that time of year again! Time to audition for the final production of the Downers Grove South Theatre Season, The Little Mermaid, Jr. Be a part of a cast who want to join Ariel and friends “Under the Sea,” as she tries to find her true love and save her soul from the sea witch Ursula. Auditions are Tuesday, March 14th ONLY at 3:30 in the Little Theatre. Please stop by the drama board in the music wing to pick up an informational packet, an audition sheet, and sign-up for an audition spot. Any questions, please email Mrs. Proimos or head to B325.
There will be a PAWS meeting today after school in the library 330-430!

"Boys Volleyball tryouts start Monday March 6th at 8am for all levels. Registration is still open this week on the 8to18 website. Must have an updated physical to be able to tryout. Any questions please email Coach Steuer."

“Congratulations to the Boys Basketball Team for the first time in school history winning Back to Back Conferences Championships and Congratulations to Denis Alibigovic, TJ Clifford, and Dylan Kaczmarek for being named to the All-Conference Team. Come out tonight to West Chicago to cheer on the Mustangs vs. Hinsdale Central in the Semi-Finals of the Regionals. Game time is 7 p.m.”
