ACTIVITIES

Are you a dancer? If so, would you like to participate in our Dance Showcase on February 7th that benefits our school wide philanthropy cause? Please stop by C149 to speak with Mrs. Martinez if you are interested in showing off your best dance moves to support Special Olympics!

Attention Gentlemen!  Do you have what it takes to be crowned Mr. Mustang 2017?  If you do or you believe you know someone who does, pick up an application in Student Activities today!

Attention Spanish Club:  Please join us for our next meeting today, Tuesday, January 24th in D277 at 3:30. Look forward to seeing you then.

Hey Mustangs! Are you aware?  Mustangs Aware will be meeting on Tuesday January 24 at 7:30 in room D171 to discuss the upcoming service project and much more.  Come and be part of the FUN!  Join us and bring a friend.  Show you care, become aware!

DECA, the business and marketing club, will have our next meeting on Thursday, January 26 at 7:30 am in room B327. This is for all members to attend to review Sectional materials. See you Thursday morning at 7:30 in B327.

The Attendance Office is looking for student aides for 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 7th periods.  If you are interested, please stop by the Attendance Office, Room A103 to pick up a request form.

Attention Seniors:  If you applied via Common App your 7th semester transcript will be sent automatically.  For Non-Common App colleges that require 7th semester transcripts please see Mrs. Lichaj in the College & Career Center Room A109.

COLLEGE AND CAREER

Do you know what you are doing this summer?

DGS has summer programs listed in Naviance for freshman, sophomore, junior and senior students.  A list of camps for that will enable you to gain a strong sense of personal and academic potential.  There are various camps in: Art, Engineering, Government Leadership, Writing, Filmmaking, Veterinary Science, Computing, Weather & Climate Science, Culinary Arts & Food and Architecture just to name a few summer programs.  Check your email for detailed information.

Attention Seniors: Now that college applications are complete, how about starting to look for Scholarships. Check your email for detailed information regarding each scholarship and where they are listed in Naviance.

ATHLETICS

Attention to ALL those interested in Baseball this spring – there will be OPEN GYM’s this week on Tuesday,  January 24 from 8 to 9:45 PM and Thursday January 26 from 8 to 9:45 PM in the Field House.  This is for all levels.

SPEECH

This past weekend, the speech team competed at the largest tournament of the year, the DGS Varsity Invitational.

The team had a tournament leading 31 semifinalists.

Finalists included:

Hayley Desliva
Tim Werner
Lydia Walsh Rock
Stephanie Stewart

Double finalists were Beatrice Beirne and Grace Ulch.

And special congratulations to Tournament champion, Vanessa Copeland in radio speaking!  Great Job mustangs!
