ACTIVITIES

This past weekend, the speech team competed at 2 tournaments, taking 1st place at both the Geneva invite and Huntley Winter Classic.  As a whole, the team took home 73 individual awards, including tournament championships by Amber Kass, Annmary Kandakudy, Asma Anwar, Charlene DeGuzman, Gizel Issa, Kyle Tolentino, Madelyn Moushon, Sam Issa, Sam Simmons, Stephanie Stewart and Rakiya Johnson.  Special congratulations to double tournament champions Tim Werner, Lydia Walsh-Rock, Vanessa Copeland, and Beatrice Beirne.  Way to go mustangs!

Attention Gentlemen!  Do you have what it takes to be crowned Mr. Mustang 2017?  If you do or you believe you know someone who does, pick up an application in Student Activities today!

Help the Lady Mustangs “Fill the Bus”!  The Girls’ Basketball Team will be doing a clothing and soft goods collection on Saturday, January 14th.   Savers Resale Shop @ Butterfield and Highland will take our clothing and shoe donations and pay us by the pound.  Their goal is to fill a vehicle or two with donated clothes.  Acceptable items include men’s, women’s, and children’s shoes and clothing.  Textiles include towels, sheets, pillows, curtains, tablecloths and blankets; as well as accessories such as hats, mittens, scarves, ties, socks, purses, wallets, backpacks and bags.  As you clean out your closet, bag up those old clothes for our Savers “FILL THE BUS” January 14th (9:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.) outside the Athletic Entrance.  ** NOTE:  If you cannot make it Saturday – items CAN be dropped off in the PE Office at Lyndsie Long’s desk PRIOR to Saturday. **

All FCCLA students competing at regionals, there is a mandatory meeting on Tuesday after school in the Foods room.  You must be there!  See you Tuesday! “

Parking during final exams is only for DGS students who have a current parking permit.  Students who park on campus during finals without a valid parking tag are subject to ticketing and/or removal.  Thank you for your cooperation!

What is the Peer Jury Program?  It is designed to provide a meaningful and remedial method of dealing with selected juvenile offenders without referral to the Juvenile Court System.  Are you interested in becoming a Peer Juror?  If so, please stop in to the Social Studies office (D272) and pick up an application. Completed applications are due January 11, 2017.

Counselor’s Office is looking for Aides during 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th period.  If you are interested, please stop by A110 to get an application.  Thank you

COLLEGE AND CAREER

Technology Center of DuPage provides an educational opportunity for students interested in attaining in-depth knowledge in specific technical career-focused areas in Auto Body Repair, Auto Technology, Cosmetology and Nursing Assistant just to name of few programs.  TCD is having an Open House on Jan 18th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm.  Check your email for detailed information.

Attention Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores, the job shadowing program is a chance for students to visit a local business and learn from professionals.  Interested students will shadow an employee to experience the day-to-day work environment. Job Shadowing is an opportunity to explore a career area for part of a day. Check your email for detailed information. The deadline to apply is January 20th through Naviance.
