ACTIVITIES

In recognition of Black History Month, we salute:
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. (1929-1968) A civil Rights Leader, was known for his “I Have Dream” speech, was instrumental in the passing of the landmark Civil Rights Act of 1964, which made segregation a federal crime. In 1964, he won the Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 35, the youngest recipient in history.

Juniors:  The Peer Tutors are ready to help you with your ADVOCACY PROJECT!  Stop in during 4, 5, or 6 to meet with a tutor who has been trained in ways to make your argument more persuasive.  We can help you at any stage of the process, from research to editing.  Come to A322 with any questions.

Attention Seniors:  The DGS Support Staff Association will be awarding a $500 scholarship to one DGS senior who will be pursuing a degree in the field of Education or Business.  The application is available on the Naviance scholarship listing.  Check your email for detailed information.

The DuPage County Election Commission is providing the opportunity for juniors and seniors to serve as Judges of Elections for the Consolidate General Election on April 4, 2017. In order to serve as an Election Judge a student must be a U.S citizen with a G.P.A of 3.0 and complete a mandatory training class. Applications are available in the Social Studies office (D272). Completed applications need to be submitted to the Social Studies office my March 1, 2017. Training will be conducted on March 18, 2017.

The Downers Grove American Legion Post #80 is seeking participants for their American Legion Auxiliary Illinois Girls State Leadership program. The camp will be held at Eastern Illinois University from June 18- 26. The program offers hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. Camp registration fees for participants are paid by the sponsoring American Legion post. Registration is open to those students who will be entering their senior year in August 2017. If you are interested, please stop by the Social Studies office (D272) to pick up an application.

Summer School Drivers Ed Registration has begun.  Students must be 15 by June 14, 2017.  Applications are available in the counseling office, Room A110. Talk to your counselor for more information.

ATHLETICS

"Boys Volleyball tryouts start Monday March 6th at 8am for all levels. Registration is still open this week on the 8to18 website. Must have an updated physical to be able to tryout. Any questions please email Coach Steuer."

Girls soccer tryouts will be held on TODAY! from 3:45 to 6:00. We will meet downstairs next to the weight room. Please make sure that you register online at 8 to 18 prior to tryouts. Looking forward to seeing you there! Please contact Coach Hernandez in A301 if you have any questions.

"Congratulations to senior basketball player, Addyson Wesolowski, as she advances to state for the IHSA 3-point Showdown! She will compete Thursday, March 2, at Illinois State University. Good luck Addy!"
