ACTIVITIES

….AND NOW FOR A SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:  Want to save 3 lives?  The Blood Drive is Tuesday, sign up is TODAY in the CAFETERIA.  Your community needs your donation.

Attention Seniors interested in being a Director for Snowball, applications are now available on the Snowball website! They are due by Tuesday, September 13. Leader applications for Juniors and Seniors are also now being accepted and are due by Monday, September 26. Snowball will be held on November 17th-18th and promises to once again be a great leadership experience!”

Attention seniors! This year, the Homecoming Variety Show will feature a seniors-only live lip sync battle!  Check your email or visit the Student Activities page for more information. There is a video audition required, due 9/14. Selected acts will perform live during the Variety show on 9/29. See Ms. Benoist or Ms. Rowley for more information

Attention Spanish Club:  Please join us for our first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 13th in D277 at 3:30.   All are welcome.  You do not need to be currently taking Spanish to join.  We hope to see you then.  

Do you like acting, debate, and public speaking? Do you want to gain valuable life skills that can translate to any career? Then join the speech team! There will be an informational meeting on Today at 3:30 in the little theater. All are welcome. If you have any questions, please see Mr. Matkovich in D175. Join the speech team and create your legacy!

Attention Ladies. Don’t forget to sign up for Powder Puff Football. The deadline for applications and permission slips is Monday, September 19th.

Sky’s the Limit is an interactive day camp designed to expose high school aged girls to the world of Aviation. You’ll get to fly a simulator, tour a Boeing 737, learn about aerodynamics, maintenance and the air traffic control system, AND you’l get to meet professional women in a variety of positions within the industry. Lunch is included. The best part this event is FREE! It is on: Saturday, September 24th, 2016 from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm. Check your email in Naviance for further details.

If you have a free study hall or resource period and are interested in being a student aide for the dean's office, please pick up application in the dean’s office A104.  Applications will be given to the deans for final approval.

Attention Powderpuff players.  There will be an informational meeting in the cafeteria on Monday September 19th at 3:30 p.m.  See you there!

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

Congratulations to the JV Girls Golf team on their WSC Conference win against OPRF.  Leading the way were Megan Guardi and Maggie Lynch.  Way to go girls!

Attention all wrestlers not in a fall sport: Pre-season workouts will start this week. Strength and conditioning will be held in the DGS weight room on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Be sure to check your school email for all times and dates, or stop by Coach Lovelace’s room in D174 for more info.

The boys varsity golf team beat Hinsdale South 158-174.  For the Mustangs, Dean Netzel shot 37, Trevor Troha and Kyle Soderstrom shot 40 and Cameron Crowley had a 41.

“Congratulations to both freshmen volleyball teams for defeating Downers Grove North last night. Way to go Mustangs!”

The women’s swim and dive team continued their winning streak with a win over Benet last night.  Varsity outscored Benet 197 to 110.  Great job ladies

The sophomore boys golf team moved to 3-0 in conference play with wins over rivals Hinsdale South and Addison Trail over the past two days.  Top scorers in those two matches were sophomores Jack Staruck, Jake Pileggi, Shane Pike and Trevor Owcarz (pronounced O-Cars) and freshman Michael Wronkiewicz (pronounced Ronk-a-witz).

COLLEGE AND CAREER

Attention Seniors: During your Senior Focus presentation you were informed that your transcript and/or supporting documents will e sent electronically as permitted by the college through Naviance. Some college applications have an October 15th deadline, which is fast approaching. Make sure your supporting documents are in Naviance before September 16th if you need to meet the October 15th deadline.
