ACTIVITIES

Juniors and Seniors – there is still time to apply to be a leader for this fall’s Snowball! Applications will be accepted through Thursday of this week – take advantage of this great leadership opportunity!”

The second yearbook club meeting is today after school from 3:30-4:30 in C156! All are welcome!

Interested in being a part of DGS Drama? Drama Club and Masque and Gavel will hold its second meeting of the year in the Little Theater on Monday, October 3 at 3:30 pm. As a reminder, those planning to attend Illinois Theater Festival need to have their permission slips, medical forms and money by this meeting. Forms can be found on our website, dgsdrama.com.

Voter Registration for DGS students and staff will take place today, Wednesday, September 28th, in the Cafetorium during all lunch periods.  Students must be 18 years old by November 8th in order to vote in the General Election. Anyone registering must be a US citizen and provide two forms of identification (student ID, Illinois driver’s license, or a passport) with one having your current address.

Hey Seniors, interested in planning and fundraising for your prom?  Senior Class board meets this Friday at 7:30 in A115. New members will only be accepted till October 7th. Contact Mrs. Franz or Mrs. Carpenter for more information.

Do you need help with your writing? Are you frustrated with an assignment? Come to the Literacy Center where our friendly tutors can assist you!  The Literacy Center is open every day before school, during lunch periods, and after school (except Fridays)

A very exciting concert opportunity is taking place next Wed. Oct. 5 at 7:00 PM in the Clarence Johnson Auditorium of Downers Grove North High School.  This concert is being sponsored by the District 99 Orchestra program and promises to entertain audiences aged 2 to 102!  The D99 Orchestra program will be performing with internationally-renowned string ensemble, Barrage 8.  Barrage 8 features all the instruments in the modern string family. The group is made up of a string octet: 5 violins, viola, cello and double bass. Barrage 8 performances offer a diverse fusion of cultures, musical styles and incredible performance vitality. The music of Barrage 8 continues to evolve - combining contemporary world music influences, layered vocal arrangements and pulsating modern beats and rhythms. The cast delivers the show with amazing energy and musical virtuosity that will take your breath away.

ATHLETICS

For any boys interested in joining the swim and dive team this year, there will be a short informational meeting Thursday, September 29th at 7:35 a.m in room C 268.  If you cannot make this meeting, please see Coach Szweda in room D272 for information.

COLLEGE AND CAREER

Sophomores and Juniors. Are you interested in learning about the various programs offered through the Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) for next school year?  There will be a field trip on Wednesday, October 26th.  Permission postcards will be emailed this week.  Information is also available in Room A109.

On Thursday September 29th a respresentative from University of Iowa, Aurora University & University of Arizona will be here. 

On Monday October 3rd a representative from Saint Louis University, Carthlage College and University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee will be here.
