ACTIVITIES

October is Energy Awareness Month. Did you know that it is possible to build a solar-powered airplane? A world record was set in 1990 when the solar-powered airplane Sunseeker flew across the United States in stages, using no fuel at all.

Politics Club next meeting is Wednesday, October 26.  We will meet in the choir room at 7:20 a.m. for our yearbook photo with our meeting to follow.

Seniors, last day to submit your baby photos to the yearbook is Monday October 31st! Digital copies of baby photos should be emailed to dgsyearbook@csd99.org. Last day to create Senior recognition ADs for the yearbook is also October 31st, ADs can be created at jostens.com/yearbookads. If you have any questions you can email dgsyearbook@csd99.org or stop by the student activities office for more information.

Congratulations to our Marching Mustangs for another fantastic performance this past weekend in the State Championships at Illinois State University.  They were awarded 5th place in class 6A, and earned a spot in the finals competition where they were awarded 10th place overall out of 45 bands.  This makes the 5th time the Marching Mustangs have been in the state finals in the last 7 years.  Way to go Big Blue!

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

Congratulations to the boys’ soccer team on their IHSA Regional championship!  The Mustangs defeated St. Ignatius Friday night 1-0 and advanced to the IHSA Sectional semi-final Tuesday night against Morton.  Game begins at 5pm at Morton West.  Good luck Mustangs

Attention all Freshman & Sophomore girls interested in playing basketball:  There will be an informational meeting in D376 after school at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, October 25th. We will be discussing try outs, registration and physicals. If you cannot make the meeting, please contact Coach Niemann in A303 or Coach Loos (Los) in C352 with any questions.

The girls cross country team won the IHSA Regional meet on Saturday. The girls will move on to compete in the IHSA Sectional meet this coming Saturday for an opportunity to qualify the team for the State meet for the 6th year in a row. Congrats to freshman, Brenna Cohoon, for earning all-regional honors.

COLLEGE AND CAREER

On Tuesday October 25th a representative from Carroll University-Waukesha (WI) & University of Tennessee-Knoxville will be here.

On Thursday October 27th a representative from Arizona State University, Texas Christian University & Augustana College will be here.

On Friday October 28th a representative from St. Ambrose University, Purdue University & DePaul University will be here.
