ACTIVITIES

In recognition of Black History Month, we present a page in Black History.

On this date, February 10,1964- After 12 days of debate and voting on 125 amendments, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Civil War Rights Act of 1964 by a vote of 290-130.

Attention all current National Honor Society Juniors: There is a mandatory meeting on Monday, February 13th in the Little Theater. Please attend before school at 7:30 or after school at 3:30. We will be discussing upcoming service opportunities and voting on next year’s officers.

The Downers Grove American Legion Post #80 is seeking participants for their American Legion Auxiliary Illini Girls State Leadership program. The camp will be held at Eastern Illinois University from June 18- 26. The program offers hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. Camp registration fees for participants are paid by the sponsoring American Legion post. Registration is open to those students who will be entering their senior year in August 2017. If you are interested, please stop by the Social Studies office (D272) to pick up an application.

Summer School Drivers Ed Registration has begun.  Students must be 15 by June 14, 2017.  Applications are available in the counseling office, Room A110. Talk to your counselor for more information.

We are having a “Red Out” at the basketball game on Friday night as our boys basketball team takes on rival Hinsdale South!!  Everyone will be wearing our new Special Olympics T-Shirt.  Be sure to get yours in the cafeteria during lunch periods.  They are only $10 and all proceeds go to Special Olympics.  It is a great way to support “Our Story.  Our Cause” and cheer your Mustangs on to victory!

Our District 99 Operation Snowball Event is on March 2nd & 3rd. South & North students will travel to Camp Duncan, stay overnight, participate in leadership workshops, hear guest speakers, and have a great time! Registration is now open and due by Monday the 13th. Go to the student activities website or stop in C149 for more info and to register. See Ms. Benoist with questions or to inquire about scholarships.

Its Crush Can time DGS! Purchase a can of Crush soda and a Valentine card for $1 in the cafeteria during lunch periods through Thursday. Key Club will deliver them to your love, crush, or friend during the school day on Valentine's Day. Orange Crush is for your crush, Strawberry Crush is for your love, and Grape Crush is for your friend! Buy yours today!

Mustangs, we need YOU to Plunge! Be bold & dare the cold! Let’s do this together for Special O! Be sure to stop by C149 today to pick up your forms! Check out the student activities page to register on-line.

It's that time of year! Join us for our black and white affair at the Winter Dance on February 25, from 7 to 10 PM. Tickets are now on sale in the book store. This week, we've got a spirit week special: tickets are ONLY TWENTY DOLLARS!! But you'd better act fast, because next week the price will go up to $25. You can pick up guest forms in the bookstore and at the front entrance desk by the library. See you at the dance!

Buy your yearbook now! February 16th is the last day to pre-order your yearbook and guarantee that you will have a book to pick up on distribution day in May. Yearbooks can be purchased in the bookstore or online at Jostens.com for $45.

Get your act together!  Can you sing, dance, tell stories, and teach about your culture? Would you like to read a poem, explain a tradition, etc.?  Then we would love to have you!  Cultures in Alliance (CIA) will have open auditions on Monday February 27th in the Little Theatre at 3:30 pm. Our annual talent show will take place on Friday March 17th.  If you have any questions, please stop by A110 and see Mr. Vetri. 

Are you ready to dodge, dip, dive, duck and dodge?  Get a team of 5 players together for our annual Dodgeball Tournament!  The tournament will take place on Thursday, February 16th!  Signup in the Student Activities office by February 14th.

Adventure Club: parent permission forms are available for Whirly ball.  Stop by and pick them up in D170.

Spanish Club: Come join us for our Valentine's Day Celebration and treats on Tuesday, February 14th in D277 at 3:30. Hope to see you there!

ATHLETICS

First day of Boys gymnastics is Monday, February 13 after school in the gymnastic balcony. No experience is needed, please register on 8 to 18.
