ACTIVITIES

In recognition of Black History Month, we present a page in Black History.

On this date, February 16, 1857- Frederick Douglas elected President of Freeman Bank and Trust.

“It’s award season! If you have read four or more of the Abe Award Nominees cast your vote between February 15TH and March 15TH. You can vote in person at the library, or online via the DGS Library website. We will reveal DGS’ Abe winner on March 16TH, 2017.”

Attention Juniors: if you have lunch resource in E238 or D279, please report directly to E238 TODAY. We will be doing more SAT preparation work so please bring your Chromebooks.

Attention first semester ceramic students, please pick up your work by Friday, February 17th.

Auditions for the Masque and Gavel Talent show will be held on Wednesday, February 22, beginning at 3:30PM. We are looking for talents of all kind, so if you can dance, sing, plan an instrument, juggle or have a killer stand-up routine, come on out and audition! Pick up an audition form on the board outside of D175. Questions? See Mr. Matkovich or Ms. Rubin.

“There will be a brief meeting for anyone interested in joining the Water Polo club this spring. Girls and Boys are both welcome. The Meeting will be at 3:30pm TODAY February 16th on deck in the pool. If you cannot attend or just need more information, see Mr. Kuchta anytime in the pool.”

The Downers Grove American Legion Post #80 is seeking participants for their American Legion Auxiliary Illinois Girls State Leadership program. The camp will be held at Eastern Illinois University from June 18- 26. The program offers hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. Camp registration fees for participants are paid by the sponsoring American Legion post. Registration is open to those students who will be entering their senior year in August 2017. If you are interested, please stop by the Social Studies office (D272) to pick up an application.

Summer School Drivers Ed Registration has begun.  Students must be 15 by June 14, 2017.  Applications are available in the switchboard office, Room A102. Talk to your counselor for more information.

Mustangs, we need YOU to Plunge! Be bold & dare the cold! Let’s do this together for Special O! Be sure to stop by C149 today to pick up your forms! Check out the student activities page to register on-line.

Buy your yearbook now! TODAY is the last day to pre-order your yearbook and guarantee that you will have a book to pick up on distribution day in May. Yearbooks can be purchased in the bookstore or online at Jostens.com for $45.

Get your act together!  Can you sing, dance, tell stories, and teach about your culture? Would you like to read a poem, explain a tradition, etc.?  Then we would love to have you!  Cultures in Alliance (CIA) will have open auditions on Monday February 27th in the Little Theatre at 3:30 pm. Our annual talent show will take place on Friday March 17th.  If you have any questions, please stop by A110 and see Mr. Vetri. 

Adventure Club: parent permission forms are available for Whirly ball.  Stop by and pick them up in D170.

The Dean’s Office is still in need of office aides for Periods 1, 4B, 7, and 8.  If you are interested, please stop by the Dean’s Office, Room A104 to pick up a request form.

The Attendance Office is looking for student aides for 1st, 2nd, & 7th periods.  If you are interested, please stop by the Attendance Office, Room A103 to pick up a request form.

ATHLETICS

Players interested in Boys Volleyball, there will be open gym Friday morning, February 17, 2017 from 6:00am to 7:30 AM.
