ACTIVITIES

In recognition of Black History Month, we present a page in Black History.
On this date, February 27, 1988- Figure skater Debi Thomas becomes the first African American to won a medal (bronze) at the winter Olympics Games.                  

Attention Seniors:  The DGS Support Staff Association will be awarding a $500 scholarship to one DGS senior who will be pursuing a degree in the field of Education or Business.  The application is available on the Naviance scholarship listing.  Check your email for detailed information.

The DuPage County Election Commission is providing the opportunity for juniors and seniors to serve as Judges of Elections for the Consolidate General Election on April 4, 2017. In order to serve as an Election Judge a student must be a U.S citizen with a G.P.A of 3.0 and complete a mandatory training class. Applications are available in the Social Studies office (D272). Completed applications need to be submitted to the Social Studies office my March 1, 2017. Training will be conducted on March 18, 2017.

A college representative will be here tomorrow February 28, 2017 from:
Harvard University, Illinois College & Truman State University.
If you are interested in attending any of these presentations, you need to sign up in the Naviance program.

The Downers Grove American Legion Post #80 is seeking participants for their American Legion Auxiliary Illinois Girls State Leadership program. The camp will be held at Eastern Illinois University from June 18- 26. The program offers hands-on experiences in the operation and fundamentals of government. Camp registration fees for participants are paid by the sponsoring American Legion post. Registration is open to those students who will be entering their senior year in August 2017. If you are interested, please stop by the Social Studies office (D272) to pick up an application.

Summer School Drivers Ed Registration has begun.  Students must be 15 by June 14, 2017.  Applications are available in the counseling office, Room A110. Talk to your counselor for more information.

Get your act together!  Can you sing, dance, tell stories, and teach about your culture? Would you like to read a poem, explain a tradition, etc.?  Then we would love to have you!  Cultures in Alliance (CIA) will have open auditions TODAY!!  February 27th in the Little Theatre at 3:30 pm. Our annual talent show will take place on Friday March 17th.  If you have any questions, please stop by A110 and see Mr. Vetri.  

ATHLETICS:

Girls soccer tryouts will be held on Monday February 27th and Tuesday February 28th from 3:45 to 6:00. We will meet downstairs next to the weight room. Please make sure that you register online at 8 to 18 prior to tryouts. Looking forward to seeing you there! Please contact Coach Hernandez in A301 if you have any questions.

All interested in trying out for softball need to be registered on 8to18 before tryouts on Monday. Tryouts will be Monday from 6-8, Tuesday from 6-8 and Wednesday 8-10.
