ACTIVITIES

Voter Registration for DGS students and staff will take place on Wednesday, September 28th in the Cafetorium during all lunch periods.  Students that are 17 years old can vote in the General Election on November 16, 2016 as long as they will be 18 years old by November 8, 2016.  Anyone registering must be a US citizen and provide two forms of identification (student ID, Illinois driver’s license, or a passport) with one having your current address.

The PE office is looking for Office Aides peridos 1 through 5.  Please stop by E142 if you are interested.

Dunkin' Donuts Late start is this Wednesday! Support the DGS Choirs by starting your late start day with coffee and donuts. (Location accepting flyer:  6310 Woodward Avenue - in the strip mall by Roundheads Pizza) purchases can be made all day long; but must be accompanied by the flier found in the teacher mail room and in the main office, for the purchase to count.

Homecoming 2016 Disney Magic is coming soon! Dance tickets are on sale in the in the bookstore.  Pre-sale Tickets are 20 dollars from 9/19-9/27, $25.00 from 9/28-9/30 in the bookstore and 30 dollars at the door. All non DGS guests must complete a guest form. Guest forms must be turned in No later than September 28th. Guest tickets much be purchased in the bookstore before Friday September 30th.  

All FCCLA members and those still interested on coming to see what it’s all about, there will be a meeting today after school in B123 at 3:30. Hope to see you all there!  We have some great ideas to go over with everyone!

Wednesday, September 28th is this year’s Homecoming Olympics!  Create a team with your friends and compete for eternal glory and a $100 gift card to Buffalo Wild Wings.  Don’t forget, a $40 down payment is required upon registration, due Friday the 23rd.  Your team will get a full refund when you show up for the games.  See you there.

Attention Seniors: Jostens will be in the cafetorium TODAY for cap and gown and graduation orders during lunch periods, in the cafeteria. Extra information packets are available in the student activities office.  Students may also come see Jostens for class ring measurements and orders. Please remember your order form and $50 down payment. You may design your ring and print your order form at www.jostens.com.

Love art? Then come have fun and join Art Club. Love photography? Then come join Photo Club. Or why not join both clubs!  We will meet today and again on the 27th @ 3:30 in C160 to prepare for Homecoming. After that Art Club and Photo Club will alternate on Tuesdays.

Do you like to read?  Do you enjoy having conversations about books?  If so, Mustang Book Club is looking for you.  Come join Mustang Book Club for our first meeting of the year on Tuesday, September 20th at 3:30 in the library.

If you are interested in climate issues,  Earth Action Club is the club for you.  We need your energy to make DGS greener!  We meet on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday after school in C260.  Our next meeting is Tuesday Sept. 20th. Everyone is welcome.  Our DGS Goes Solar sunglasses are still available from the Science Office, C257 for $5.  See Ms. Quain with questions. 

To all new and returning students, DGS K-Pop will be having its first meeting of the year on Wednesday September 21st from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. in Room C356.  If you’re interested in hearing your favorite Korean music with out club and just hanging out while doing so, come by our room and check it out. There’s sure to be someone who likes the same artist as you.

The DuPage County Election Commission is providing the opportunity for juniors and seniors to serve as Judges of Elections for the General Election.  In order to serve as an Election Judge a student must be a U.S. citizen with a GPA of 3.0 and complete and mandatory training class by October 22nd.  Applications are available in the Social Studies office (D272).  Completed applications need to be submitted to the Social Studies Office by Thursday, September 22nd.

On Thursday September 22nd A representative from North Central College, Truman State University & Western Michigan University will be here.

On Friday September 23rd a representative from University of Dayton-Ohio & Paul Mitchell School of Cosmetology will be here.
