Participate in the #BlackHistory social media challenge.
Take time to think about how Black culture and history positively influences your life.
Over these next four weeks during February, let’s celebrate Black artists, musicians, authors, community leaders, and inspirational voices in society. Take time to take a picture of yourself with a famous quote and submit it via a Google form to DGS Activities & Umoja. Your picture will be celebrated on our social media handles (@dgsactiviites & @dgs_umoja) and you will be eligible for some #BlackHistory celebration swag! Let’s have some great conversations about how Black Culture and History have positively shaped our lives.
Who can participate? Everyone! Staff, students, clubs, athletic teams, and classes are welcome to participate in the #BlackHistory Challenge! (DGS Photo Gallery)
Be sure to watch our Black History play presented by DGS Drama. This year, students will be performing four short plays by Idris Goodwin. After watching the play on February 19th at the premiere on youtube or any date after that, be sure to complete the Google form to let us know you watched it, something you learned or liked, & take time to write a kindness message to one of the actors in the show. After you submit the Google form you will be eligible for Black History celebration prizes!
Umoja is hosting a virutal movie night on February 17th to watch Harriet. Next, be sure to join Umoja at Trivia on February 24th! You can play to show off all your knowledge about Black History and Culture or simply join to learn a little bit more while having some fun with fellow Mustangs. ALL are welcome!
