Dear District 99 Community,
We wanted to let you know that District 99 continues to monitor COVID-19 recommendations for schools and we are in close conversation with leaders from the Illinois State Board of Education, DuPage Regional Office of Education and public health officials on what might come next if an outbreak reaches our area. The Illinois Department of Public Health continues to recommend that schools hold classes and events as usual.
Please know that we are developing plans to ensure that we can respond quickly if we need to close for an extended period. We expect that we could use e-learning for a short term cancellation, similar to snow days. If an e-learning day is called, everyone would follow the e-learning protocol and expectations outlined here. We will follow guidance from the State if we experience a long-term shutdown.
In the meantime, we are:
- continuing to update this page with additional links to resources and information about COVID-19.
- continuing our cleaning and disinfecting procedures, paying special attention to door handles, desktops, computer keyboards, drinking fountains and telephone mouthpieces.
- planning to hold our domestic trips over spring break as scheduled; this may change as the situation develops. We are monitoring CDC and ISBE recommendations for this summer and will have guidance on international trips soon.
- encouraging our students and staff to take the same everyday measures of staying healthy.
- encouraging our students and staff to stay home if they are ill, until they remain fever-free for 24 hours without the use of medication.
We will continue to update you as this situation develops.
Thank you for your support,
Dr. Hank Thiele, hthiele@csd99.org
District 99 Superintendent
