Dear District 99 Community:
After continuing conversations and collaboration with our local health department officials and the DuPage County Regional Office of Education and in an effort to promote social distancing, District 99 has decided to close its schools starting Monday, March 16 and immediately implement an e-Learning schedule. We do not anticipate needing to make up any days at the end of the year as we have a State approved e-learning program.
We will implement the following schedule starting Monday, March 16:
- March 16 - No student attendance. Staff will meet at their designated school to create a weekly e-Learning plan. We will email students and families with additional information.
- March 17 - 19 - e-Learning days
- March 20 - No student or staff attendance
- March 23 - No student attendance. Staff will meet virtually to create a weekly e-Learning plan.
- March 24 - 25 - e-Learning days
- March 26 - 27 - No student or staff attendance.
- March 30 - April 3 - Spring Break
- Monday, April 6 - School resumes with regular Late Start schedule
No activities or athletics will occur for these three weeks. All are canceled effective immediately. However, the SAT testing at South High will be held as planned.
In addition, we have contacted those families who receive meal assistance from us to continue this service during this new schedule.
There are still no known cases in DuPage County. Many area schools are taking this measure in an effort to promote social distancing.
This is a developing situation, if different guidance comes from a State or National level, we will update families.
Thank you for your support,
Dr. Hank Thiele
District 99 Superintendent
