Chartwells K12 CEO Visits District 99 Schools

On April 26, 2022, Chartwells K12 CEO Belinda Oakley visited and received a tour of South High and North High, including the new cafeteria and eating spaces as well as the culinary arts labs. Chartwells K12 is District 99’s food service provider; it partners with 665 districts and employs 16,000 associates.

“We were pleased to host Belinda and showcase all of our new culinary spaces,” said Dr. Hank Thiele, superintendent of District 99. “She has many exciting ideas for growing our partnership together, not only to ensure that students continue to receive fresh and healthy meals, but also to better connect our curriculum with our cuisine. This will allow us to show students all of the career pathways that exist within the food service industry.”

District 99 has worked with Chartwells K12 since 2016. This year, District 99 stopped participating in the National School Lunch Program. As a result, the district was able to expand its menu options and offer more enticing options, which has increased revenue and allowed for the continued support of students in need.
