“Our students have been stunned by the scope and impact of the facility renovations, and it has been rewarding to witness their positive reactions to their new learning environment,” says Dr. Hank Thiele, District 99 superintendent. “We thank the community for its support in reinvesting in our schools, as we know the changes will have a lasting impact on our students.”
As a result of the passage of the referendum, air-conditioning was installed in all learning spaces in August 2018 before the first day of school. Construction then continued and was completed before the first day of school on August 13, 2021.
Designs for both schools focused on safety and security, accessibility and modern learning spaces. In addition to secured entry vestibules, new additions were built to house science, fine arts and culinary classes. In addition, both schools now have large Learning Commons areas featuring abundant natural light and seating.
