In an effort to achieve the District 99 Education Foundation’s mission, which is to fill in the gap where traditional funding may not be available, Pizza Wars proceeds will benefit a variety of teacher grants and student scholarships at North High and South High in Downers Grove. In 2018, the District 99 Education Foundation gifted more than $20,000 in support of educational programs. A few recent highlights include supporting: a collaboration with Gaudette Brass and the Grant Street String Residency for music programs; 3D Printing supplies for the Robotics Club; the Social Studies department in promoting voting for students who celebrate their 18th birthday; and equipment for the Yoga Club.
“We’re incredibly honored to to support innovative curriculum and cutting-edge technologies in order for our educators to enrich student experiences at District 99,” Julia Beckman, District 99 Education Foundation President, and former District 99 Board of Education member, said. “Pizza Wars is one way for our community to gather and show support for our schools.”
