Newsweek magazine published its list of “America’s Top High Schools” for 2016.
Of the 15,819 public high schools, 6,477 met the criteria to be considered. The rankings considered the following six factors:
1. Changes in 9th and 12th grade student enrollment rates
2. Ratio of counselors to students
3. Weighted SAT/ACT composite scores
4. Weighted AP/IB/dual enrollment composite
5. Graduation rate
6. Percentage of students enrolling in college
Nationally, South High ranked #501; North High ranked #540.
Newsweek’s “Beating the Odds” list accounts for students who are eligible for free and reduced lunch; on this list South High ranks #337 and North High ranks #429.
