Who has the best pizza in District 99? That’s what the District 99 Education Foundation intends to find out when it holds its fourth annual Pizza Wars Competition. The event will be held on Thursday, January 19, 2017 in the South High School Cafeteria in Downers Grove from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The pizza tasting ends at 7:15 p.m. and the winner is announced at 7:30 p.m.
Attendees will receive one sample from each of the participating pizza providers, and then vote on their favorite pizza! This years' vendors include:

- Cucinova – Westmont
- Home Run Inn – Darien
- John & Eddies – Downers Grove
- L & F – Westmont
- Lou Malnati’s – Downers Grove
- Olive Theory – Downers Grove
- Papa’s Pizza – Woodridge
- Tortorice’s – Downers Grove – 2016 Pizza Wars Winner!
- WoodGrain Neapolitan – Westmont
The proceeds from this event will help fund teachers grants for innovative programs, tools and resources that will impact the way students learn in their classrooms. Since its inception, pizza wars has raised over $24,000 to support teacher grants and scholarships.
“At Pizza Wars, the community can eat pizza from all 10 pizza vendors while supporting students and teachers at District 99,” says Denise Callarman, Executive Director of the District 99 Education Foundation. “Proceeds from this event will provide grant funds for teachers that identify or develop new approaches in teaching that will enhance a student's learning experience.”
