Hello DGN Community,
Due to a gas leak on Main Street at approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon, Monday, August 12, the 9th Grade Orientation program planned for today has been canceled. In addition, the Parent/Guardian meeting has also been canceled. Also, all other activities and athletics scheduled for today are canceled and the building will be closed for the remainder of the day.
Although Fire Department and NICOR personnel were on the scene immediately after being notified of the smell of gas, it will take them time to fix the issue and for the odor inside of the school to dissipate.
As a result of the cancellation of the orientation, on Wednesday, August 14, we will host a 9th Grade Open House from 4-7 p.m. Our school will be open for 9th graders and other new students to walk the building, familiarize themselves with their schedule, and find their lockers. Our Positively North leaders will be here also to help all of our new students find their way around. NOTE: All the activities that were planned for the program today will be embedded into the first day of school this Friday, August 16, to ensure that students have the information they need to feel confident as they begin high school. As a reminder, the day begins at 11 a.m. We will let you know how we plan to reschedule the Parent/Guardian meeting.
