Martin Manzke, a current Downers Grove North High School teacher and JV coach for girls' soccer, has been selected as the new girls' head varsity soccer coach.
Manzke is a teacher in the special services department and served as a long-term substitute from October to May of the previous school year. He has spent two years coaching the JV girls' soccer team and will be the assistant coach to the boys' varsity team in the fall of 2023.
"I am thrilled to take the helm as the head girls' soccer coach here at Downers Grove North, especially coming from a household where women have excelled in sports," said Manzke. “Witnessing the immense talent and potential within this community and school, I am excited to work collaboratively with these young athletes, empowering them to unlock their true capabilities and strive for excellence on and off the field."
Manzke’s mother is the head girls' track coach at Argo High School, and both of his sisters played collegiate-level soccer. Manzke was a four-year varsity starter at Carl Sandburg High School and played four years of collegiate soccer at Lewis University. He graduated from Lewis in 2021 with a degree in Special Education and is earning his masters in ESL.
