Three students from North High School in Downers Grove and competed in several categories at the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) Journalism Competition. Senior Kate Gross earned first place in News Writing.
“I am so happy for Kate as she is North High’s first state champion in News Writing, a notoriously competitive event,” says North High School English teacher and Omega Newspaper adviser Elizabeth Levin. “I’m not surprised by her win. Ever since Kate joined the journalism program, she has demonstrated a tireless devotion to accuracy in reporting and has held herself to the highest standards.”
Additional competitors from North High were Payton Hubbs-Plumley and Maddy McGovern.
