DGN Principal Message: August 23

DGN Principal Message: August 23

Greetings, North High Families,

Happy Monday! As we start week #2, I just wanted to send out a few reminders for the week.

Curriculum Night
Please click here for the schedule for Curriculum Night, this Thursday, August 26, beginning at 5:30 p.m. with grade level presentations, a welcome at 6:30 p.m. by Dr. Courtney DeMent and the administrative team, and the class schedule from 7:10 to 9:12 p.m. We hope to see you on Thursday! Please remember that masks are required to enter the building and must be worn for the entirety of the time in the building.

First Home Sporting Events/Extra-Curricular Activities
This week, our Trojan Athletes begin competition. Please check the website for full details, and good luck to all of our fall teams as they begin competitive play.

  • Friday, August 27 is our first home football game, where we will also recognize our seniors in Football, Cheerleading, Band and Athenas. The sophomore game begins at 4:30 p.m. followed by senior recognitions. The varsity football game will kick off at 7 p.m.

Many of our clubs have also started their club meetings. Please have your student check their school email account for information about dates and times. We have many opportunities for your child to become involved in extracurricular activities at North High School, and we encourage all students to explore the various clubs and leadership opportunities offered before, during and after school. Click here for more information on all of our clubs offered at North High. DGN is hosting a Student Activities Fair on Wednesday, September 1 during lunch periods for students to learn more about our organizations.

Resources for Students

  • North High's Academic Resource Room is open throughout the school day in Room 050, which is located just beneath the Commons. This is one way for students to get additional help with a teacher or peer tutor after they have worked with their teachers during their office hours.
  • Students should also check out our online tutoring service, paper.co. They can simply go to paper.co, click sign in, and choose to sign in through their D99 google account. This tutoring service is 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so they will always have access to get help with their classes.
  • Finally, if you are looking to make a one-on-one peer tutor appointment with a National Honor Society tutor, please email Frau Burritt at gburritt@csd99.org and specify the subject area with which you are seeking assistance.

Daily and Weekly Announcements

  • Students automatically receive Daily Announcements via email; if parents/guardians would also like to be in the know about daily happenings, click here to subscribe to North High Daily Announcements.
  • District 99 publishes a weekly D99 Docket email reminder of calendar events sent on Thursdays, in addition to a bi-monthly Board of Education Highlights email. Please click here to subscribe.

Thank you for your continued support of North High School, and let's make it a great week!
