National Merit Commended Students at North High

Downers Grove North High School announces that eight students have been recognized as “Commended Students” in the 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program, an academic competition sponsored by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The designation recognizes a student’s “outstanding academic promise,” according to the NMSC.

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are recognized, which represents the top five percent of more than 1.5 million students who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. 

The following North High students are 2016 National Merit Commended students:

·        Nuria Asad (North High School student from Oak Brook)

·        Benjamin Cortez (North High School student from Woodridge)

·        Sarah Fantinel (North High School student from Downers Grove)

·        Luke Goergen (North High School student from Downers Grove)

·        Nathan Jeffries (North High School student from Downers Grove)

·        Troy Martin (North High School student from Downers Grove)

·        Jeremiah Pike (North High School student from Downers Grove)

·        Aubrey Sieve (North High School student from Lisle)

“Everyone in our community should be proud of all of these students and congratulate them on the achievement of being recognized in this prestigious program,” says Superintendent Dr. Mark McDonald. “This recognition will help expand their educational opportunities and pursuit of academic success.”
