Downers Grove North High students participated in the 2016 “Close Up” program in Washington, D.C. from February 28 - March 4. This year, 17 students made the trip to our nation’s capital and proudly represented the Downers Grove North High School community by engaging in a week of rich civic experiences with fellow high school students from around the country.
Students had the opportunity to meet with all of their elected representatives in Congress, including an impromptu visit with the Stanley Cup in the chambers of the United States Senate!
The program is run by the Close Up Foundation, the nation’s largest civic educational organization, and consists of activities designed to introduce students to U.S. history, politics and culture.
