Miles Christensen, a junior at Downers Grove North, received a perfect score of 36 on his ACT.
Less than one tenth of one percent of students who take the ACT receive a perfect score. Nationwide, nearly 2.1 million students took the test in the 2016 graduating class, and only 2,235 students scored a 36.
“I was really surprised. I found out during class when my friends told me that the scores were up,” says Miles. He was also relieved to know he wouldn’t need to re-take the test for a higher score.
The ACT consists of four multiple choice sections: reading, math, science, and English. Each section is scored on a range 1 to 36, and the composite score is the average of all four tests.
Upon graduating in 2018, Miles plans to major in computer science in college.
